Fiji is an island group in the Pacific Ocean, consisting of 322 islands and coral atolls, of which around 100 are inhabited. Around 90 per cent of Fiji's 837,271 people live on the two main islands of Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. Indigenous Fijians, with a mixture of Melanesian and Polynesian ancestry, account for the majority of the population. Indo-Fijians comprise a substantial minority group.
